This Woman Asked For The Shelter’s Oldest Dog. She Would Be Leaving With Two!

When dogs start to grow older, their chances of being adopted by a loving family dwindle by the day. This is a sad reality that these dogs have to face all the time. It is easy to understand why they are always passed over, too. The average family that stops by the animal shelter is typically not looking to take home a senior pet. They are looking for kittens and puppies.

As a result, the older dogs are left to their own devices. These animals can even become despondent as a result. Their fate is not lost on them. That’s what makes this story such a special one. A shelter was finally able to find homes for two of their oldest residents recently. These dogs have been through a lot over the course of their lives.

Brutus and Sam are lovely dogs who have been experiencing some health issues. Of course, this made it harder for them to find homes. No one wants to take home an older dog that needs medical assistance. Sam had been residing here for six months. The poor pup had even found a family that was willing to adopt her but they brought her back to the shelter eventually.

As for Brutus, he had been living here for five months. His former owners had surrendered him because they believed that he was ready for euthanization. Leslie Sacks was the guardian angel that these boys had been waiting for. When she arrived at North Carolina’s Asheville Humane Society, she knew that she was going to take home one of their senior dogs.

She is not like all of the others. Leslie was not going to take home a puppy. She wanted to make sure that one of the senior dogs had a new residence. According to Leslie, these dogs have a great deal of love and wisdom to offer. It is nice to someone who recognizes what these senior dogs can provide. There are too many people out there who are overly focused on what these dogs are unable to do.

They do not focus on everything that they still have to offer to an owner. The senior dog is typically much more relaxed and intuitive than the younger puppy. Leslie does not want these dogs to be overlooked. Since she and her loved ones had laid one of their beloved pets to rest recently, she wanted to make sure that they were prepared for what came next.

It can be hard to say goodbye, even when the family knows what is coming. “It was really hard for me to lose the dogs,” says Leslie’s daughter, Sasha. The 10 year old was sad to lay her old friend to rest but she is glad to have Sam and Brutus in her life. These dogs are in need of loving homes and they deserve to have a second chance.

Sam and Brutus were even given brand new names at their new home. They will now be known as Bruno and Bella. The family is sharing their story with the rest of the world, in hopes of providing the necessary inspiration. These dogs have lots of love to give. Hopefully, Leslie’s story raises the necessary awareness.

No one wants to see senior dogs suffering. That’s what makes stories like this one so important. If you would like to see this heartwarming adoption for yourself, take a closer look at the video below. It is one of the most touching things that we have seen in some time! Be sure to pass this story along to spread the word.

Nobody enjoys being in the inpatient unit of a hospital and for children, this experience can be downright scary. Fortunately, there are lots of volunteers who donate their time to help children make this experience just a little bit easier. Some volunteers dress up in costumes to help children who are having a rough time. Others might show up bearing gifts that can help children get through their stay. Other volunteers play musical instruments, trying to cheer up the kids. Sometimes, help comes in the form of a popular animal. Kids love animals and Fred the Mini Horse is one of the most popular guests at the local Michigan Children’s Hospital.

Horseback riding is a great activity both recreationally and competitively; however, even being around a horse can place a smile on someone’s face. This is what happened from Fred the Mini Horse showed up at the local Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Fred the Mini Horse was instantly the star of the show when he arrived. This tiny horse belongs to an organization called Little Horses Big Smiles. This is a nonprofit organization that operates out of Fremont, MI. This organization is dedicated to training and providing mini horses for a variety of purposes. In this case, Fred the Mini Horse is training to be a dedicated service animal who can help people all over the pace. Fred the Mini Horse did exactly that when he made his way around the floors of the local children’s hospital. The nonprofit organization has already spent a lot of time with the children’s hospital, knowing that there are lots of patients there who could use a little bit of extra love and attention. It turns out the animals from this organization, such as Fred the Mini Horse, make appearances about once per month. Those who work at the nonprofit also love their work. They say there is nothing better than putting a smile on the faces of children who need it most. Fred the Mini Horse is happy to provide this opportunity.

Fred the adorable Mini Horse makes his way around the floors in a great costume. He wears shoes over his hooves in an effort to protect the floors from harm. In addition, Fred the Mini Horse also wears a vest that clearly marks him as a therapy animal. Fred the Mini Horse is about 14 months old, which is about the same age as many of the children he sees at the hospital. Parents and children from all over the hospital echoed these sentiments, knowing that Fred provides an opportunity for kids to put their illnesses on the backburner for just a few minutes as they interact with the loving animals. Even the parents enjoyed meeting Fred the Mini Horse. The parents go through a difficult time in the hospital as well. The opportunity to leave the room and be interactive is a welcome break for many families.

In addition to the children’s hospital in Grand Rapids, Fred the Mini Horse also makes visits to other local children’s hospitals in the surrounding area. There are lots of children who are going through a hard time and could use a lift. This is the goal of Fred and the other animals at this local nonprofit. In the future, other animals might also visit the hospital as well. This isn’t just a welcome break for the children. The hospital staff often interact with the animals as well, looking for a quick break from their demanding jobs.

After Scanning Cat’s Microchip, Pet Returned to Owner who Left Him

Most people see pets as a member of their family; however, not every animal is loved and cared for as they should. Animal cruelty is a serious issue throughout modern society and there has been a tremendous amount of attention to try to improve the living situations of pets everywhere. Unfortunately, the shelters are still overcrowded and many pets are left looking for a him. For this reason, it is incredibly sad when pets are abandoned by owners who should be loving them. The focus should be on improving the lives of pets, not moving them backward. That is what makes this next story so heartbreaking.

Recently a couple from the state of Missouri walked into a local animal shelter. The shelter was called Midwest Animal Rescue. The shelter focuses on helping animals find owners who are willing to offer them a loving home. In the meantime, the shelter gives animals a safe place to live, a roof over their heads, and plenty of food. The couple entered the local shelter claiming that they had found the cat in a town nearby. They said they weren’t sure what to do with the animal so they brought the cat to the shelter for care.

In response, the shelter explained the local policy to the couple. While the shelter is a welcoming place for all of the local animals in the area, they could not take the animal from that specific town where the couple claimed to have found the cat. The shelter knows that they have agreements in place with neighboring towns and they need to abide by these agreements. The staff at the shelter helped the couple find the right animal shelter that could help them, and the supposedly lost cat, find the care they needed.

The animal shelter set them up with a crate they could use to transport this supposedly lost cat to the right shelter; however, the story took a devastating turn. The couple put the cat in the crate and then left the crate on the sidewalk before driving off. There are security cameras outside the shelter that show this exact story. The shelter quickly realized what was going on and ran outside to help the poor lost cat that had just been abandoned on their sidewalk, even after the shelter owner provided the couple with all of the information they needed to shelter their cat.

The shelter took the cat inside and checked over him to make sure he was okay. They examined the cat thoroughly and realized that the cat had a microchip in place. These microchips are put in place to help lost cats find their way home. These chips typically have the contact information on the owners, such as phone numbers and addresses, that can help cats find their way home. When the shelter scanned this microchip, they learned the horrifying truth. It turns out the owners of this cat are the two people who brought him in.

It appeared as though the owners were trying to abandon this poor cat at the shelter by claiming the cat was lost, thinking nobody would find out; however, the cat had a microchip that told a different story. The shelter wants everyone to know that they understand people have tough circumstances and might not be able to keep their pet; however, abandoning him or her is not the proper answer. The rules are put in place for a reason. Hopefully, this cat will eventually find another family that will provide him with the love and compassion he deserves.

Dogs Like Magic, Too, as Local Pomeranian Husky Mix Dresses as Harry Potter

Without a doubt, one of the most popular stories over the past few decades has been Harry Potter. What initially started as a single book has quickly evolved into a saga containing seven separate novels, eight different movies, and has even spawned its own theme park down in Orlando, FL. In a sense, Harry Potter has almost become a cultural phenomenon all over the world as nearly everybody has heard of the popular series. While there are countless people all over the world who have fallen in love with the story, its books, its movies, and those who play the iconic characters on screen, it appears the love of this series knows no bounds. Even animals have fallen in love with the popular story.

A local Pomsky, which is a mix of a Pomeranian and Husky, was recently caught dressing up as Harry Potter. The local dog is looking to become famous through Instagram and has already made for an absolutely adorable fan of the popular series. The dog has already gathered numerous followers and has dressed up in a variety of outfits; however, his dress as Harry Potter has been his most iconic costume. Most people are able to identify Harry Potter because of the lightning bolt scar on his forehead. There have already been countless kids who have dressed up, completing the costume with the recognizable scar. It turns out this love even spreads to dogs.

Potter shares an iconic features with the famous boy wizard. When the owners first got their local Pomsky, they were trying to find a good name for him. Sure, there are plenty of stereotypical names for dogs. Think about Fluffy, for examples; however, this family was looking for something that was a little more unique. On their way home from the store, they were getting to know their new family members. That was when they realized that this puppy looked like he had a lightning bolt on his forehead. Instantly, the couple knew they had found a name for their new puppy. They decided to name their new puppy Potter, after the young boy wizard from the iconic series.

They set out trying to define their new puppy by his adorable looks. No wizard would be complete without the ability to do a few tricks. Think about levitation, invisibility, and fighting off the average evil spirits. Sure, Potter might not be the flying ace that his namesake is when it comes to the world of Quidditch; however, this doesn’t mean the dog can’t fly at all. There are already videos of him participating in the sport by riding around on a flying Roomba. Sure, it might not be a broom, but the dog has to work with what he has, right? In addition to this, he makes an adorable Gryffindor, not unlike his namesake. He has a beautiful scarf and glasses that he puts on to show his dedication to the popular house.

While the Roomba might have come from one of the owners, it was certainly a challenge to get a young puppy to sit still on a Roomba as it rolled around the room. Of course, there is always a way to convince your local wizard dog to sit still. This is where a whole bag of treats can come in handy. Like other wizards, Potter likes to delight his fellow Harry Potter fans. While there isn’t any word yet on potential friends, here’s to hoping there is a local Ron Weasley or Hermione Granger out there who can help him out.
